This is the first in my new video series! I am planning on posting new videos periodically that will cover techniques and fun projects. The projects may have corresponding workbooks and patterns. Please have fun watching this and subscribe.
This is the second in the wool applique by machine series and it is really fun. Here I show some of the ends and outs of deciding on decorative stitches and how to use them to embellish the applques that were sewn on in the first video.
OK everybody I have completed this little series with this video. Here I talk about sandwiching, quilting, and binding the quilt. Hope you enjoy this.
Admittedly this is about using software you may have to create a pattern from a line drawing, but I thought it was well worth putting into one of my videos to help those who want to do this and have the software. If you have Bernina v8 software, you have the Corel Draw Elements.
Sew take a look at this video that shows some of my quilts and discusses some of my experimental quilting efforts. I think you might enjoy this one.
How to set up your sewing machine for free motion stitching for both quilting and free motion embroidery.
Stippling is a great tool for your quilting. Getting the stippling the size you need is sometimes a little challenging. This little guide will help you decide and help you keep it the same size.
A quick little video showing the advantages of using the machine buttons to sew without using the foot pedal. Many machines today have this function.
This is the first of a series of landscape elements skillbuilder projects that I will be presenting . This shows how to use padded textured applique and broiderie perse to make a delightful fruit tree in full bloom. This is part one of two videos for this project. There is a downloadable workbook with pattern available for purchase on my store that accompanies these videos for just $3.50!
This is the second half of the Deciduous Tree skill-building project in which I show the quilting and embellishment of this little project. I ask you please to subscribe to my channel while you are there. It is free and does not require any form to be filled in. YouTube should really have called it "Follow". They base any monetary compensation to me in part off of how many subscribers I have, so it helps me a lot. Thank you!
Inexpensive modern tech you may already have helps you mark quilts for stitching. See how.
This is the first part of my Two Birds Applique project, which combines applique, thread painting, complementing quilting, and even some fabric paint. In this first episode we'll assemble the quilt, get it appliqued and marked for stitching the thread art and major quilting. We'll continue with the thread work, quilting, and finishing touches in the rest of this series, so you can work through it step by step. Downloadable Pattern with workbook is just $5.00.
This is the second part of my new applique and thread art quilt project. This video is all about thread painting: choosing thread, choosing feet, stitching a couple of layers of stitches to get both bold and subtle details, and even fixing problems. You may find this one useful for thread painting your own quilts, even if you're working on a different project. Next time we'll continue with the rest of the quilting, and finishing touches, to give you the rest of the step by step guide to complete this project.
In this third part of my applique and thread art quilt project, we plan and execute all of the quilting: the borders, planning quilting that will complement our thread art, marking and quilting feathers, swirls, echoes, and more.
In this short final video for my applique and thread art quilt project, we'll take care of finishing touches: Tuning the colors to get a layered look with artist crayon fabric paint, and adding some interest details with crystals and beads.Say something interesting about your business here.
I'm very pleased to present my newest wool applique project which uses machine applique, decorative stitching, and some new techniques. I have an accompanying pattern you can download for free from my website, with all the files you need. Today's video takes you through getting all of the appliques cut, fused down, and assembled.
In this video we'll finish off our stained-glass inspired wool applique quilt of a Kingfisher bird design. We'll start with the decorative stitching, sandwich the quilt, and then move on to free motion stitching and final quilting to complete the project. I've packed in tips along the way on thread and needle choices, choosing the right decorative stitches, and a couple of other helpful things like aligning the Q20's laser pointer for accurate stitching. Don't forget that all the necessary designs, like the overall layout and files for cutting the appliques with a digital cutter, are available for download free on my website. I hope you enjoy this project, and please leave feedback below!Say something interesting about your business here.
In this video we'll have a little fun making a small needlebook project, with the help of "artificial" artificial intelligence, purely tongue in cheek. Odette, by the way, is my Bernina 880 plus machine. This one is just for fun, so I hope you enjoy.
In this video we start a new quilt project, a fall-themed table runner design with applique, custom machine embriodery, piecing, and decorative quilting. It has some influences from japanese design and some Celtic knot decorations, blended together with fall colors and colorful batik fabrics. Today we'll get everything cut and prepared, and appliques placed and stitched down, ready to move on to embroidery and piecing. The complete pattern with an illustrated guide, SVG files for cutting the appliques with a digital cutter, embroidery designs for your machine, and more, are available for sale on my website. It's my most detailed and complete pattern yet, and I love how it came out, so I hope you enjoy it!

In today's video we'll finish our fall-themed table runner design, working through the actual quilting on the project. This has been a fun project that I hope you'll enjoy and use, with influences from both Japanese design and traditional Celtic patterns, blended together with fall colors and colorful batik fabrics. The complete pattern with an illustrated guide, SVG files for cutting the appliques with a digital cutter, embroidery designs for your machine, and more, are available for sale on my website. It's my most detailed and complete pattern yet, and I love how it came out, so I hope you have fun with it!
In this video we show two methods for cutting binding strips for your quilt, so you can see what works better for you. My daughter in law Beth joins me here so we can do this one as a bit of a bake-off.
This is a recording of a live presentation on several of my quilts and how I made them that I gave at a local quilt shop run by a friend I've known quite a while. It includes some quilts I haven't shown on my channel before, like one I made in honor of my mother, using some crochet squares she had made. It was recorded live, and the audience wasn't equipped with the same kind of microphone I was, so I added captions for their questions so you can follow the discussion easily. With special thanks to Suzzie's Quilt Shop, Anita Born, and Beth Tatum
In today's video I'll introduce some new techniques for landscape quilting, and start on a skillbuilding project with mountains and evergreen trees. This one packs a lot in, on planning landscape quilts, color models for landscapes, turned edge applique, and more. And from some past responses, I'm bringing back my tongue in cheeck "artificial intelligence" character, Odette.
n this video I'll finish the landscape quilting how-to project we began in my last video, focusing on evergreen trees. I ended up making it one of my biggest videos ever, loaded up with new content like design ideas for evergreen trees, couching yarn, a way to use thread painting as an "applique" treatment, and even some binding tips. And in this video, my tongue in cheek "artificial intelligence" Bernina Q20, Fritz, will play a role as well.Check out this great video
